Marketing Questions

It all depends on what your particular goals are! If you want to develop an organization that will “leverage” you and give you “free time” plus more money then we suggest you focus on 3 main activities: Retail, Fundraising and Recruiting. In order to have a “leveraged business organization” in network marketing you want to make sure you learn to recruit others into your sales organization. What this means is that if you desire to have “free time” AND an income, you will want to focus a large portion of your activity on “sponsoring” new distributors into Scent-Sations AND finding out which of those distributors also desire to build an organization. It is those distributors who will start the process of duplication into your business organization and give you leveraged income. Then you need to focus your attention on assisting those distributors in building their organizations! (Make sure that you teach the three ways of making money in Scent-Sations: Retailing, Fundraising and Sponsoring. Make sure you constantly refer to the training materials on the Web site, get on any conference call that is scheduled and talk to other distributors about what they are doing to become more successful.
We believe that the best system to work in Scent-Sations is to stay focused in working with the three ways to make money: Retailing, Sponsoring and Fundraising. By doing this you will be in constant contact with many people and by inquiring whether they are looking for a way to earn more money (or work from home) you will constantly be adding more new people to your “warm list.” We believe that people are most attracted to a home business because of money, free time and the opportunity to be their own boss and make their own schedule, BUT the products are the “sizzle” that really sells the opportunity. By constantly showing and selling our products and following up with an inquiry into whether your customer is open to look at the business opportunity behind Scent-Sations, you will always have new distributors being sponsored into your organization!
Multilevel marketing is a legitimate income opportunity. Multilevel marketing is a popular way of retailing in which products are sold by independent distributors (usually working from a home office), rather than by sales clerks in stores. In a network marketing structure you can also build and manage your own sales force by recruiting, motivating, supplying and training others to sell those products. Your compensation then includes a percentage of the sales of your entire sales group as well as earnings on your own sales to retail customers. This opportunity has made multilevel marketing an attractive way of starting a business with comparatively little money. How to tell the difference between a legitimate business and a disguised pyramid scheme: Pyramid schemes seek to make money from you (and quickly). Multilevel marketing companies seek to make money with you as you build your business (and theirs) selling consumer products. Before you sign up with a company, investigate carefully. A good way to begin is to ask yourself these three questions:

  1. How much are you required to pay to become a distributor? Start Up Cost: Start up fees in multilevel companies are generally small (usually for a sales kit). These companies want to make it easy and inexpensive for you to start selling. Pyramid schemes, on the other hand, make nearly all of their profit on signing up new recruits.
  2. Will the company buy back unsold inventory? Buying Back Inventory: Legitimate companies which require inventory purchases will usually "buy back" unsold products if you decide to quit the business. Some state laws require buy-backs for at least 90% of your original cost.
  3. Are the company's products sold to consumers? Sales to Consumers: This is a key element. Network marketing depends on selling to consumers and establishing a customer and distributor organization. This requires quality products, competitively priced. Pyramid schemes, on the other hand, are not concerned with sales to end users of the product. Profits are made on volume sales to new recruits, who buy the products, not because they are useful or attractively priced, but because they must buy them to participate. Inventory purchases should never be more than you can realistically expect to sell.

(We liken a good network marketing business to a rectangle rather than a pyramid because (in truth) you are allowed to build your business as wide as you want (you can place as many people on your front line as you desire) and you will receive income on a certain amount of depth (in our case, 6 levels). If you were to actually draw this out on a napkin presentation it usually looks like a rectangle.)
No, you don't need a Web site to do this business BUT we would recommend that you do have one. Here's why:

  1. The "Scent-Team" Web site can expand your business beyond your own personal contacts. It leverages you because its working 24/7 no matter what you are doing.
  2. It is a duplicate-able system of information that is constantly being updated by the company. Therefore you don't have to worry about keeping it updated yourself. By using the "Scent-Team" Web site and by teaching your new distributors to use a "Scent-Team" Web site you are assured that everyone in your business is working with the same information which ensures duplication in your business. Duplication is KEY to success in network marketing. We believe that those who use a Web site to do their business will experience faster growth on a national (and eventually international) level!

*Only "Scent-Team" company Web sites are allowed to feature Mia Bella's or Scent-Sations products or information on them.
Submitting your Web site to search engines is rather simple and there are many ways you can do it:

  1. Purchase search engine submission software (this can be rather expensive).
  2. Wait for the search engine to automatically spider and list your site without you doing anything. Most popular search engines like Yahoo and Google have the ability to list your site without you doing anything at all. It just takes time for them to automatically index your site, and a manual submission will typically speed up the process.
  3. Use a free search engine submission site to speed up the spidering/index process. Using a tool like this or one you pay for is somewhat similar. It basically speeds up the process of your site being spidered/indexed and listed in a search engine, rather than waiting for the search engine to eventually do it on it's own. Here is a link to a site that provides free search engine submission: http://www.submitexpress.com

Submitting your Web site to search engines can be rather time consuming and the results and rankings are usually not good unless you bid on keywords or pay for rankings. All scent-team Web sites use the same meta tags and keywords. If you feel we are missing some keywords, please contact Technical Support using the contact form.

Product Questions

We use 2 wicks so the candles burn evenly and release the maximum amount of fragrance from the first time you light the candle right down to the end.
This is a very tricky question because there are so many variables that come into play when burning any candles, such as location (drafts, wind, ceiling fans), amount of time of continuous burn, proper wick trimming, etc. Some fragrances have ingredients that create a faster burn time than others. Its always best to follow the burn instructions on the back of every jar to get the maximum results and safety from your candles.
Again, this is a very tricky question because there are so many variables that come into play when burning any candles, such as location (drafts, wind, ceiling fans), amount of time of continuous burn, proper wick trimming, etc. Votives can burn differently in various votive jars and holders. Mia Bella's votives should always be burned in some type of votive holder to contain melted wax.
The “soot” that most people are concerned about is the “soot” that comes from using paraffin in candles (because of oily residue). All items that are burned (including alternative candles) must give off some percentages of soot. The small percentage of soot that might be seen on an alternative candle would be carbon from the wicks or because the flame has gotten too high and the wick is in need of trimming. Some fragrances also give off small amounts of soot.
All of our candles are made at the corporate office, warehouse, and manufacturing plant located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Our wax is made up of all natural materials but we do not use natural fragrances in the majority of our candles. It is our opinion that most natural fragrances and essential oils do not produce as good a scent nor last as long as synthetic scents. Most of our scents are made specifically for our alternative wax formula and in the cases where we deem that a natural scent can function at the same level as a synthetic we use a natural scent. *Note: Our main goal was to address soot concerns among “mainstream” candle buyers and their candles. We were not looking to develop a candle for the much smaller “all natural” market-place.
Our original formula was 100% soy but we found that soy was NOT the best ingredient to develop an alternative candle from. The reason is that 100% soy does NOT hold enough scent to create a strong scented candle. When we designed a strongly scented soy candle we found that scent actually rose to the top of the candle forming a puddle at the top. The proprietary formula we currently use is a formula specifically designed for our candle's needs (clean burning and also strongly scented) and is comprised of vegetables and other natural, renewable resources. In our opinion, although soy has the benefits of clean burning and warm water clean up, our blend has those benefits PLUS allows us to make the candle one of the strongest scented candles in the market!
The wicks are lead free and also core free (no zinc) and are made from 100% cotton. Although our wicks are considered self trimming we still recommend that you trim the wicks to between 1/8 and 1/4 inch at all times. (Burn instructions recommend that you NEVER burn a candle continuously for more than 3 hours!)
Storing your candles in your car or anyplace where it can be exposed to extreme heat can cause the following situations to occur: Extreme heat can cause the candle to melt slightly, but it will reform itself once it is no longer being exposed to that heat. If candles are stored for a long period of time in extreme heat (100 degrees F or more) and the storage area is unventilated you can experience the following:

(a) candle melting (b) the candles can lose some of their scent (c) the candles can become slightly discolored.

Do NOT allow the candles to be exposed to sunlight while in storage as it can discolor the candles.
You can experience the following if you expose your candles to extreme cold. (20 degrees F or less):

(a) If your candles are stored in a cold place you may notice that the scent coming from the unburned candle will not be as strong when you open the jar. That will not affect the scent when the candle is burned and you will also notice that the scent will return to full strength when brought back to normal conditions (b) The glass container holding the candle can become more brittle while cold and cases of candles should not be mishandled as it can cause breakage of the glass under those conditions.
It would depend on the time you spend in the shower, what you use it for and if you let it standing in water after leaving the shower. Most people have told us that the bar lasts a lot longer than any cleansing bar they have ever used!
Scent-Sations, Inc. does not recommend the use of electric candle warmers with Mia Bella's candles. Mia Bella's uses a 2 wick system with a safety seal at the end of the wick. The seal is metal. With two wicks the amount of metal at the base of the candle can pull in too much heat and break the glass container.
